This has been a long-awaited read for me, at least. Of course, we have known the Obamas for quite sometime now. But then, I read this book and it just blew me away. My impressions of the Obamas have only got more refined.

This isn’t a small book and definitely, one of those big ones for me to pick up. To my surprise, I found myself glued to it in no time and looked forward to read more and more. I finished it in no time and was only left amazed.

Michelle writes splendiferously and beautifully weaves the story of life and how it gets entwined with that of Barack. It’s as if we get to witness their life in the form of words. Aptly titled, Michelle never leaves a moment to dismay us and keeps us hooked.

It’s interesting to see the way they perceive life – in the simplest of terms. We would understand how much clarity they have and what held them together. While talking about her own life and how she faced the challenges life threw at her, she never backs out from praising Barack and loving him for who he is. Not a love story but feels like one. They are the characters we would fall in love with.

Do read this book, for;

  • Living the beautiful love story of Barack and Michelle.
  • Being amazed at their outlook towards life.
  • Realizing how grounded they are and what simple lives they live.
  • Learning how much dedicated they were, to do their bit in reducing the suffering(s) in this world.
  • To know how their personal struggles shaped them to who they are today.
  • To know Michelle, in particular, a career-oriented woman who falls in love with a man and has to cop up with the realities of life after being wedded.

A definite read for everyone alike! ❤

Leaving you with few noteworthy quotes from the book;

“Your story is what you have, what you will always have. It is something to own.”

“Time, as far as my father was concerned, was a gift you gave to other people.”

“At fifty-four, I am still in progress, and I hope that I always will be.”

“We were planting seeds of change, the fruit of which we might never see. We had to be patient.”

“A happy marriage can be a vexation, that it’s a contract best renewed and renewed again, even quietly and privately—even alone.”

“Grief and resilience live together.”

“You’ve got to be twice as good to get half as far.”

“We live by the paradigms we know.”

Happy Reading! ❤
