Do I need to even introduce this widely acclaimed drama that had become one of the biggest hits in the Korean Drama World?! This is a drama that gave name and fame to almost everybody associated with it. Our lovely, Lee Min Ho came into limelight, all thanks to this drama. You can love him or hate him, but you won’t be able to ignore him in the drama, for sure. This drama is a good starting point when going for dramas that revolve around high school love.

Also labelled with other names [For instance, ‘Boys Before Flowers’], Boys Over Flowers is a high school romance having myriad elements to it. It has drama, romance, comic moments and tragedy that will definitely touch your heart. The main protagonist, I feel, is Gaeum JanDi, around whom the entire story is woven. A simple girl from a moderate family finds herself studying at an elite high school and gets entangled with the rich and flamboyant, Flower Boys!

Storyline Synopsis

The story starts with the introduction of the Gang of four – F4. Not sure why the name but they are those bunch of handsome, charismatic and rich students, each of who is definitely a boy of dreams, for any girl. Gu Jun Pyo aka Lee Min Ho leads the group, who himself is the heir to his family’s conglomerate. He appears stubborn, harsh, different and spoiled brat, over whom girls just drool over. There is this another guy, Jihu who always carries a warmth around him with his lovely smile and white attire. He’s considerate, a lot more caring and kind of a gentleman. Then there are two more guys, So Yi Jung, who is into pottery by inheritance and Song Woo Bin who is another important member of the gang. These four are childhood buddies and don’t have friends else where, especially Jun Pyo.

And there comes the main protagonist, Gaeum Jandi, who is born in a lower middle class family and whose family runs a dry cleaning business. She is like a backbone of the family and gets admitted in the elite high school, Shinhwa, run by Jun Pyo’s family. There is where starts the story of how Jandi’s life gets inherently tied to those of Jun Pyo and Jihu, who influence her a life in many ways. Jandi starts liking Jihu when Jun Pyo starts falling for her, but eventually realizes what Jun Pyo means to her.

The plot reveals how Jun Pyo was never bad at heart. It has always been his solitude that made him so. The story showcases the touching love story of a simple girl, Jandi and the rich, Jun Pyo and how they were always meant to be together. The another awesome highlight of the drama is how these four guys stand for each other all the time and never leave each other’s side.

Viewpoints

I specially loved Jandi’s character, for I got to get inspired from her. She’s such a strong girl who rarely cries even in worst of the situations and tries staying content with the situations and people in her life.

After quite a lot of struggles, especially due to the opposition from Jun Pyo’s mother over their relationship, Jun Pyo and Jandi end up together.. ❤

Min Ho seems to have gained a lot of popularity as Jun Pyo. By far, this is undoubtedly one of his best portrayals, especially at such a young age. Loved the name and find it to be the cutest amongst all the ‘J’ names he has had. His hair style deserves a special mention here – those curls. Lol!

Loved Jun Pyo to the core, specially how he treats Jandi and always tries to stay by her side, checks on her and helps her when in need. This must be Min Ho’s cutest character ever [according to me!].

Original Sound Track

The sound track has a lot of songs and all are simply amazing. You must listen to them all.

As I type, I have the ‘Stand By Me’, ‘Almost Paradise’ and ‘Lucky’ songs playing and visualizing as well. They are such lovely songs!

Ending Note

They say this is a ‘go-to’ drama when one wants to enter the K-Drama world. This has been such a popular show and Lee Min Ho is a definite treat to watch. But, it is Jandi’s character that is the centre point of the entire drama. Everybody has performed well. The original sound track just adds to the visuals.

A definite must watch and great for the beginners.
