Outline
I don’t even remember vaguely as to how did I even stumble upon this drama. I took a note of one of the leads who I know is a treat to watch. Nevertheless, I chanced upon this drama, checked out the talk and given the genre it belongs to, I thought to give it a try and I am glad I did.
This drama seems to be a big hit of the year, 2020. I got to understand the title of the drama only once I watched it. And I have to admit, what a thoughtful and befitting title this is while giving a perfect outline of what the drama is all about. Truly, a ‘flower of evil’.
Storyline Synopsis
I wonder as to where should I start ?! The story may appear a little predictable and simpler, but the way it is spun makes this drama very interesting.
The story begins with the depiction of how cold Baek Hee Seung’s parents are to them and their granddaughter. Do Hyun Soo aka Lee Joon Ki lives as Baek Hee Seung, the son of a businessman, with reasons unknown. This is revealed later on. Hyun Soo is apparently a wanted criminal and is on the run. He is taken to be a serial-killer. Do Hyun Soo’s wife, Cha Ji Won aka Moon Chae Won, is a Detective and apparently lands in a case Hyun Soo is involved not knowing Hyun Soo is her own husband. Rest of the plot is about how she discovers and unravels the truth which was buried years ago and what turmoil she goes through in her fourteen years of wedded life.
Viewpoints
Although the pace is a little slow, there is no instance where the viewer is not hooked. As always, Lee Joon Ki has beautifully essayed his character, which has so many shades in itself. This shows what prowess he carries as an actor. Rest of the actors had been more or less new to me. But I must say everyone’s role is very important to the overall plot and each one of them has carried out it so well. I am in awe of the love between Hee Seung [Hyun Soo] and the Detective that only appeared so real and so relatable. It was not fantasical. The kid who essayed their daughter is a treat to watch. I loved the resilience and vulnerability of Detective Cha. The drama, for sure, had complex characters, out of which Do Hyun’s is the most complex one.
This is a very different drama, a little dark and at the same time, quite enlightening.
Original Sound Track
Oh, this drama does have a lot of sound tracks. Given how dark this drama is, the sound tracks have been rendered in the same way. As such, I fell in love with one particular track – “In my heart”, which is very heart-warming. I don’t remember how many times have I looped it in.
Do try out all of them and see for yourself which one you liked. By the way, I was surprised to see this listed in Wynk Music App. All of the tracks are available there.
Ending Note
In my particular opinion, this is a must-watch drama for everyone, no matter what taste they have. I am sure you would not be disappointed. Probably, this is why is it one of the highest rated dramas when I checked last on ‘My Drama List’.
So, go, grab your snack / coffee and don’t miss out on this gem!
P S – This drama is also streamed on Netflix. Where else could you get a better experience ?!
